Blizzard Outage
  • Resolved
    Resolved

Blizzard server is back online. Any emails you didn't receive during the outage should begin pouring in shortly (from now up to a few hours from now). The next step is to migrate this server to new hardware to never experience this again, as this was the result of a poor hardware configuration on our part. More on that later, for now we're online.

  • Update
    Update

The previous status remains the current status, though 30-45 minutes may have been slightly under the target.

  • Update
    Update

Still going well. If everything goes as planned, this is the home stretch before we bring it back up. ETA 30-45 minutes? It's a fairly rough guess. If it's dramatically wrong, that could change to anywhere from 1 hour to 12 hours, that's how crucial this step is in determining the result, and the result can't be known until it's finished.

  • Update
    Update

Still working on this box. All signs point to positive results, but the time it takes is one of those "it takes what it takes and anything less than what it takes is complete failure" kind of things so moving as quick as possible.

  • Update
    Update

So far things are looking good, hoping to get it back online soon. This is a real time update, things can change, but we'd like you to be as optimistic as we are at this moment.

This is a hardware failure event. Working to provide a quick resolution so that we can follow it up with a longer one. The primary goal is to get everything back online in as little time as possible. Whether or not we can do that in a timely manner is, frankly, not yet known.

Gmail.com + "Your recipient address has been blocked by admins"
  • Resolved
    Resolved

For a very brief moment today, users sending email to any @gmail.com address received this error:

"Your recipient address has been blocked by admins"

This was quickly resolved. It was the result of a deployment to standardize blocked recipients across the platform, though entirely unclear how *@gmail.com managed to land in the file as the deployment was merely a combination of what existed on the servers at the time, none of which should have contained this logic. We're blaming this on Murphy.

Tuesday server routing issues
  • Resolved

    Considering resolved.

  • Monitoring
    Monitoring

Back online? Maybe? Hard to confirm when being able to reach it from our side wasn’t an indication of a lack of a problem at the beginning of this. Observing customer reports.

  • Update
    Update

The number of reports skyrocketed, but our options for handling are still limited. The only options we have to move it along would be to migrate out by about this time tomorrow, at which point there’s just no way this wouldn’t already be solved. There’s still a healthy amount of traffic on the server indicating that a lot of users are able to use the server, and it’s hard for us to say how many are truly effected as Sunday tends to reduce the number of reports by day alone. While ReliableSite said on Twitter that this was resolved, it’s obvious that it hasn’t yet been, so we’re still trying to get updates.

    Identified

Some users are unable to reach the Tuesday server due to routing issues in the region. This does not impact all routes, nor all customers. Most users appear to be able to reach the server fine, only a handful of reports are coming in. As this is not impacting the whole server and we cannot accurately determine the scope beyond a number of reports (less than 10), we are not actively tracking this as an emergency within our scope of influence.
